Phoenix: So Much More than Extreme Heat!

Phoenix is often called one of the hottest cities in the United States of America. While it is true that Phoenix can be home to ungodly high temperatures that does not mean that it isn't worth visiting! There are a lot of fun things to see and do when you visit this very popular Arizona town. Here are a few of the places that locals enjoy the most:

Camelback Mountain: Camelback Mountain can be found on McDonald Drive in Phoenix. This is an incredibly popular spot for hikers and people who enjoy outdoorsy activities. Many locals bring out of town guests here to give them a taste of the beautiful local scenery and get them away from the wear and tear of living in the city. The trails are dog friendly and there are trails of varying difficulty. Everyone can find something fun to see or do at Camelback Mountain!

Heard Museum: Heard Museum is located at 2301 North Central Avenue in Phoenix and it has its own website for people who might want to get a closer look at some of the things that the museum has on display. This museum is dedicated, among other things, to the celebration of the local Native American tribes that have populated the area. Locals love to visit the museum because the curators are so sensitive to the culture of the Native Americans. The Heard Museum is dedicated to local artists and folklore and is a great way to learn more about Phoenix and its history.

Carolina's Mexican Food: Carolina's Mexican Food can be found at 1202 East Mohave Street in Phoenix and it has a great website for those who want to take a closer look at its menu. This super affordable restaurant is open Monday through Saturday (closed Sundays) and is a great place to take a group of friends who want to nosh on some great Mexican Fare. The tortillas are made on site and its food is famous in the Phoenix area. This is a must visit for anybody who visits Phoenix!

Yasu Sushi Bistro: Yasu Sushi Bistro is located at 4316 East Cactus Road in Phoenix and, well, it isn't cheap but it is fantastic! You wouldn't think that a sushi restaurant in the middle of the desert would be able to offer locals anything special, but locals love this place. This is a great place to go when you and your spouse want to get out of the house and have a husband and wife date without the kids. Don't be fooled by its strip mall location, the food is fantastic! The restaurant is small and usually pretty busy, but is worth the wait! Save time by calling ahead!

Phoenix is known mostly for its desert atmosphere and extreme temperatures. It is also a cultural center in the Southwestern United States and worth visiting at least once, if not many times!
